Lesson 25
SECOND DAY: Read Matthew
25:1-13.
Q3.
From this parable about relationship to Christ:
a. List ways the wise virgins were similar to the foolish ones.
Ten are all virgins.
They all took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
They all became drowsy and fell asleep after long time waiting.
They all woke up and trimmed their lamps
when the bridegroom came.
b. Who do the “wise virgins” and “foolish virgins” represent today?
“wise virgins”: the fruitful believers, who devote themselves to God and
are prepared for a long waiting for the Christ’s second coming.
“foolish virgins”: some one claim that they are believers, who
may be interested in God but they do not bear good fruit.
Q4.
a.
Give directions about being prepared for Jesus’ second coming from the
following verses:
Matthew 7:13-14 The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the
narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to
destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But
small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find
it.
We must be prepared to go the small gate
and narrow road that leads to life.
Matthew 7:24-27 The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who
hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise
man who built his house on the rock. 25 The
rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that
house; yet it did not fall, because it
had its foundation on the rock. 26 But
everyone who hears these words of mine and does not
put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on
sand. 27 The rain came down, the
streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with
a great crash.”
We must study God’s words, put them into
practice and build our life around it.
Matthew 24:4-5, 42, 44 4 Jesus answered: “Watch
out that no one deceives you. 5 For
many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not
know on what day your Lord will come. 44 So
you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do
not expect him.
We must not be deceived and be ready all
the time.
John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those
who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
We become children of God by receiving
the name of Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 4 But
you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise
you like a thief. 5 You are all
children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So
then, let us not be like others, who
are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For
those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But
since we belong to the day, let us
be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation
as a helmet.
Since we are children of God we belong
to the day. We must put on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of
salvation as helmet.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 23 May
God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole
spirit, soul and body be kept blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The
one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
God himself will sanctify us. We must
keep our whole spirit, soul and body blameless.
b. In Scripture, oil may be a picture of the Holy Spirit. Give truths about the Holy Spirit from these
verses:
John 3:5-8 5 Jesus answered, “Very
truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of
water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives
birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives
birth to spirit. 7 You should not
be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The
wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where
it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit gives birth to spirit
for us to be born again.
Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the realm of the
flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in
you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to
Christ.
If we belong to God we must have the
Spirit lives in us.
Ephesians 1:13-14 13 And
you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the
gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were
marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who
is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are
God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
The people who heard the gospel were
included in Christ. The believers were marked with
a seal, the promised Holy Spirit and guaranteed our inheritance of God’s
possession.
Q5. Read John 10:3-4, 14;
Romans 8:14-16. How does this parable challenge or assure you about your
relationship to the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ?
John 10:3-4, 14
3 The gatekeeper opens
the gate for him, and the sheep listen
to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When
he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow
him because they know his voice.
14 “I am the good
shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—
Romans 8:14-16
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are
the children of God. 15 The Spirit you
received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the
Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,
Father.” 16 The Spirit himself
testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
We are the sheep of Jesus, the son of
God. Father calls us by name and goes on ahead of us. We know His voice and listen
to His guidance to keep the close relationship between us.
My Nina knew my voice, followed my order
and wanted to be with me all the time. Therefore, I love her so much.
