Lesson 25, Q6~Q9

THIRD DAY: Read Matthew 25:14-30.
Q6. “Talent” was a unit of weight, like pounds or kilograms today.
a. List things God gives us for which He holds us responsible:
Proverbs 3:13-15 13 Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
He holds us responsible- to use the wisdom we gain from the Holy Spirit to gain understanding of God’s kingdom.
Matthew 13:52 He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”
He holds us responsible- Teacher of low is a disciple in the kingdom of heaven and shall take care of all congregations like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.
Matthew 28:19-20 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
He holds us responsible- Go share the gospel to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Jesus have commanded you.
John 1:9-13 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
He holds us responsible- to share the true light to the people, so by receive Jesus who receive Jesus are born of God through their faith.
John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
He holds us responsible- to follow Jesus and to do what Jesus has done for us.
John 21:15-17 Jesus Reinstates Peter
15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
He holds us responsible- to share the gospel and to love and strengthen other believers.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
He holds us responsible- to understand the Bible and use it for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

b. What has God entrusted to you that He would like you to “invest” or use?

God has entrusted me that I can use the wisdom from Him to influence other people by dissecting and sharing the truth for the world logically, objectively, and scientifically.

Q7. Describe each servant. Include attitude, actions and what each received in the end.

Five talent: good and faithful servant, went at once and put his money to work, and gained what God has entrusted him two times more, and received the reward from God.

Two talent: good and faithful servant, and gained what God has entrusted him two times more, and received the reward from God.
One talent: wicked, lazy servant dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money, earn nothing, but got punishment.

Q8.

a. What was wrong with the man with one talent even before he buried it?
This servant does not plan to earn any money for his master from the beginning.
He has been grumbling behind his master about how terrible of the master who harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed that this servant did not think of learning more money but just wish he did not lose money.
b. Read Joel 2:25-27. What promise does God give those who have “buried their talent” but who repent before the Master returns?
Many time, talent and opportunity have been wasted like the locusts have eaten those. But God waits to forgive the people if they repent.  And repay them for the years the locusts have eaten and have plenty. So the people will praise the name of God.

Q9. Give a spiritual principle from Matthew 25:29. (See also Matthew 13:12; Luke 8:18.)
We who has the talents from God should do what they have be entrusted to give, to love, to share the kingdom of God and to witness for Jesus by using our gift. Then we will be given more from God.
