a. Read Mark 7:1-13 with Matthew 15:2. What explanation does Mark give about the Pharisees’ and teachers’ question to Jesus?

Pharisees & teachers nullify the Word of God and have their way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe their own traditions-wash their hands before eating just one of their own righteous ways.

b. How did Jesus turn their question into a challenge to examine themselves?

Jesus questioned their another ludicrous tradition that they changed God’s command of “honor our father and mother” to “if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God, they are not to “honor their father and mother” with it”. Those hypocrites nullify the Word of God for the sake of their tradition.
